Set within a newly constructed Downtown Modesto, were three abandoned houses that belonged to the homeless. The client wanted to restore the houses for low – income families and young professionals.

coG-studio wanted to bring life into these homes through Details, Color, and Simplicity.  With a tight budget, it was important to focus on the details and the use of each unit.

The concept was to leave “darkness” on the outside and allow the warmth of ones blood, to breathe into the entrance and the interior spaces.  Therefore, the dark or gloomy exterior represents the mistakes, the trials, and the choices we as individuals make or must face on a daily basis.  Yet, you learn to overcome those obstacles, and you learn to breathe again by entering into a new season.  The red door and the warmth of the interior represents that new season.  Each unit is unique; all with concrete counters and “barn” doors.
