Counseling Clinic

Located on University of Detroit Mercy’s main campus is the Counseling Clinic.  The clinic provides no-cost individual, child counseling, addictions counseling, career counseling, and family counseling to the surrounding community. The project involved renovating six therapy rooms including designing and constructing a Children’s Play Therapy Room.  The interactive wall includes dry-erase surfaces for the children to express their feelings during their sessions. The challenge was designing a room for the children in a space that was once a dorm room.  It was important that the room reflected warmth and compassion. That was done through the different types of lighting, materials, and paint colors.
