420 14^th Street

Set within a newly constructed Downtown Modesto, were three abandoned houses that were used by the homeless in the city.  The client wanted to restore the houses for low-income families and young professionals.  coG-studio wanted to bring the “life” back into the existing homes through celebrating the details, applying warm colors, and developing the character.  With a tight budget, it was important to focus on the details and the use of each unit.  The concept was to leave the “darkness” on the outside and allow the warmth, to breathe into the entrance and the interior spaces.  Each unit is unique, with concrete countertops and “barn” doors.
